The Phenomenon of Deeksha

What is Deeksha?

Deeksha is a transmission of energy that affects the activity of the brain. Most commonly the transmission occurs when the “deeksha giver”, who has been initiated in the process at the Oneness University in India, places their hands on the head of the receiver for a minute or two. Deeksha can also be transferred through eye to eye contact, or simply through “intention”, even to thousands of people at a time. The effects are remarkable, defy most logical explanations, and have impressed even the most determined skeptics. It is, in essence, a phenomenon of power.

It is based on an ancient principle that states: “ Anything can be transferred, be they states of consciousness, wisdom or energy.” In many Eastern traditions mantras were used by the Masters to transfer spiritual experiences, and the Pentecost phenomenon, where the apostles practiced the laying of hands, also testifies to the principle of transfer.

Deeksha affects neuro-biological change. There are sixteen centers in the brain responsible for definitive experiences like sensory perception emotions of jealousy, hatred, fear, compassion, love, joy, separation, connectedness, creativity, learning etc. Deeksha results in the activation of certain centers and the de-activation of others, bringing about a shift in the perception and experience of life. The process finally lands the seeker in a permanent, incredible state of consciousness.

What does science say?

Scientists in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Russia and the U.S.A. have measured the affect of deeksha on the balance of electromagnetic impulses emitted by the brain. They have determined that within thirty seconds of a deeksha transmission the activity of the parietal lobes, as well as the brain stem and limbic system, becomes quieter and more balanced, while the activity of the frontal lobes increases. These findings are identical to measurements of long term Tibetan meditators conducted at the University of Pennsylvania. Furthermore, the effects of deeksha are cumulative; the more deeksha a person receives, the more balanced the brain becomes. A group from Princeton University is establishing a laboratory on the Oneness University campus to study and observe the Deeksha process.

These kinds of changes in the brain’s activity, especially when they are cumulative, affects every area of a person’s life; physical health, personal relationships, creativity and business, as well as an individual’s relationship to religion, society and the planet as a whole.

The Oneness Movement.

The Oneness Movement is an organization inspired by the guidance of Sri Amma and her husband Sri Bhagavan. The Movement is not a creed, a cult or a sect. It does not seek to impose any beliefs or practices on anyone. There is no proscribed philosophy, no enforced meditation and vegetarianism, and no gurus to follow. It is not a new faith seeking to unify all the faiths in the world, nor does it seek to make any one faith triumph over the rest. Deeksha operates independently of dogma, belief or sectarian tradition. It has been equally embraced by Chistian and Hindu priests, Jewish rabbis, Muslim imams and agnostic scientists.

Deeksha is a process. It is an experience. It helps every individual discover the truth, and enhance their own personal belief system. It is a journey to connectedness and Oneness. It intends to help every individual person discover the truth of their own faith through the power of Deeksha.

The Oneness University

The Oneness University is located in Golden City, near Chennai in Southern India. It is dedicated to awakening the entire planet into its natural state of bliss and love. It flows from the vision of Sri Amma and her husband Sri Bhagavan, whose mission is to set humanity unconditionally free.

The area where the University is situated is the birthplace of its founders, Sri Amma and Sri Bhagavan. In the last thousand years there have been more avatars, saints and sages born in this region than any other in India. Sri Bhagavan originally founded a school for children. His unusual spiritual style of teaching led to his pupils becoming enlightened which troubled the parents who had the school closed down. This in spite of the fact that all the children passed their important state exams! Now, many years later, several former pupils have returned to the University to work as dasas, or monks as we would understand the term.

Courses are offered with fees proportional to the wealth of the country of the participants. Americans and Europeans pay a relatively high price, while Russians and Indians pay less, and Africans and indigenous people are admitted free.

Awareness.

Many highly credible and visible celebrities have been attracted to Deeksha since its spread to the Western World in 2004. These include Entertainment personalities in Film, Music and Television and notables from the Arts. Political leaders who have been attracted to the benefits of deeksha include Mexican lPrime Minister Vincente Fox, Alvaro Garcia of Chile and the former President of Indonesia who is also a Sufi master with a following of forty million muslims.

Although it is entirely non sectarian the movement has attracted the interest of religious leaders. Recently the Pope sent his chief archivist, head exorcist and his personal secretary. Other visitors include Osman Ishik of Turkey, Abdul Munir Mulkinam, Secretary of the forty million strong Mohamedein as well as a tidal wave of Buddhist teachers, Hindus, Rabbis and indigenous elders from all over the world. And more than anywhere Deeksha has captivated the interest of spiritual teachers and writers, including Ram Dass, Jack Cornfield, Marcie Schimoff, Tony Robbins, and Wayne Dyer.

For the influential leaders in all these fields there is the growing opinion that the Deeksha process is the most powerful and compelling spiritual technology to emerge in living memory.

Global Implications.

Einstein declared decades ago that – “one cannot solve a problem in the same state of consciousness in which it was created.” Increasingly we recognize that the state of consciousness we have come to regard as normal, one dominated by separation, greed, fear and fundamentalist thinking, is not in fact natural. We may have the intuition of the potential for human consciousness, and a saner way to conduct our lives, but meanwhile the clock is ticking and we wonder if we still have time to turn the global ship around before it hits the iceberg.

Most astute observers see that human society is coming close to a crisis of unprecedented proportions, a few symptoms of which include global warming, depletion of oil, military conflict and economic imbalance. As we exhaust our faith in exclusively political, economic and environmental solutions, the appeal of the old Zen insight arises: change must come from within. From Ram Dass to the Dalai Lama, spirituality today finds its relevance and potency in its impact on a world in crisis.

For increasing numbers of people Deeksha is offering fresh hope for a saner world and perhaps the best opportunity they have so far seen to bring a deep and widespread transformation to enough people to precipitate a quantum shift in planetary consciousness.
