The Oneness Movement
How it all began…
The entrance proclaimed the vision of its founder Jeevashram; a gurukula patashala set amidst sylvan surroundings is the chosen place that cradled the divine phenomenon that was to later engulf the whole world.
Along the alleys on either side were boards with profound insights on diverse aspects of life like relationships, parenting, right schooling, suffering, bondage and liberation. The campus echoed with the laughter of the children. The spiritual atmosphere of the patashala nurtured in the children a freedom of spirit and a tenderness of being.
Suddenly one day strange happenings were spoken in whispers among the children that a divine phenomenon had broken loose on the campus. The golden ball of Divine Grace had descended and a mystical phenomenon was unfolding itself with the hitherto playful children turning into unbelievable prophets, miraculous healers, saints in divine communion, experiencing tremendous states of consciousness that were a prerogative of the few seers and sages of the past.
Trivikram Sahadev, the great grandson of erstwhile local raja and an active student of the school, was walking back to the classroom after the lunch hour. During one of these exciting days, passing through the administrative blocks he happened to glance through one of the rooms where Sri Bhagavan was seated. For a brief period their eyes met. The boy swooned and there after for three continuous days the inmates witnessed the boy moving on and off into Nirvikalpa Samadhi. At last when the boy was becoming irretrievable, Sri Bhagavan Himself intervened and restored the boy back to his normal state. Such instances of children moving into extraordinary states were becoming common occurrences. Everyday some child or the other would pour forth revelations about the future occurrences or expound with unmatched eloquence the great insights of enlightened masters or emanate such silence, bliss and love from their being, that, it transported others too who were in touch with them.
The pinnacle of these glorious events was the awakening of Antaryamin of the higher sacred. This mystical phenomenon formed the fountainhead for millions of people across the globe for whom a divine communion with their hearts has become a normal everyday affair today.
It was during this phase that Sri Bhagavan decided to reveal His mission to the rest of the world. With the mission being carried into the masses by the disciples, the movement started unfurling itself across the length and breadth of the nation. Scores of men, women, children, young and old partook of Sri Amma Bhagavan’s Divine grace and got redeemed of their physical and mental afflictions, discovering a causeless love and joy to their existence. Thus it began…
Sri Amma and Sri Bhagavan
Sri Bhagavan was born in the year 1949, march 7th at Nattham, Tamilnadu. Sri Amma was born in the year 1954, on August 15th in a beautiful village called Sangam, Nellore District on the banks of the river Pennar.
Nectar courses down the throats of millions of devotees even as they utter the word Amma. Words are reduced meaningless in the compassionate and loving glance of Amma. Amma’s smile and the look of benevolence are forever etched in the hearts of every one of its beholders. Amma’s childlike innocence and immense wisdom instill in the hearts of listeners a tremendous reverence and immediate affection towards Her. Very often devotees are found either in irrepressible laughter or in silent tears rolling down their cheeks, since Amma makes it known to them that She is indeed aware of their unspoken sorrows and hidden devotion.
Sri Bhagavan would be constantly surrounded by friends and acquaintances and even strangers because of the immense love, grace and wisdom that would emanate from every one of his words and gestures. Around the being of Sri Bhagavan could be witnessed an immense healing of body, mind and spirit, to all those who come in touch. It is indeed and unforgettable experience to be in the presence of the Divine Being because “love” and “freedom” are natural happenings around him. Listening to Bhagavan speak would definitely mean to one and all, the tearing asunder of the veil of ignorance of several life times.
Vision
Sri Bhagavan’s dream, his vision since his childhood days had been to elevate man to an altered state of consciousness of causeless love and limitless joy and transport him in to a state of oneness with everything around. The Oneness Movement, a noble spiritual movement is a manifestation of Sri Amma and Bhagavan’s intense passion and infinite compassion.
This movement was inspired by the noble vision of its founders to liberate Man from all kinds of suffering by bestowing the highest benediction, which is Enlightenment or the state of Oneness. Sri Bhagavan and Amma are Avathars for Enlightenment. They are here to free Man from his mind and make him experience reality without the interference of the mind. They are a phenomenon around whom miracles and extra ordinary events happen. They influence your life through the power and splendour of their consciousness. Their grace has led many a soul from untruth to truth, darkness to light, ignorance to wisdom, bondage to liberation.
The Way
“Deeksha” or the process of initiation
What is Deeksha?
Deeksha is the ancient system of transference of energy from one body to another body or from one mind to another mind. It has been there in almost all countries, across all continents and civilizations, throughout human history, in some form or the other. In course of time, as people lost this ability to give Deekshas, the focus shifted to teachings, meditations and other spiritual practices to reach the same destination that was possible simply by the Deeksha.
The state of Enlightenment is made possible to the seekers, not by any severe spiritual practices or sadhanas by but the process of Deeksha. At the Oneness Movement seekers are not only given Deekshas for their enlightenment but also are empowered with the unique blessing of being able to give Deekshas to others
Enlightenment is not so much a spiritual process as a biological event. Certain parts of the brain have to be activated, and certain parts have to be shut down in order for the mind to stop its continuous chatter. Once this happens, the Indwelling Presence would take over. The Deeksha transfers divine energy, which reorganizes the entire framework of consciousness. It has its own intelligence, and interfaces with the deepest longings and blueprint of each individual soul, leading to flowering of the heart, God realisation or Enlightenment.
The first step…
The first step for a seeker would be to participate in the regular weekly Darshans at the Oneness Centre at the Tiruvallur District. Every week from Wednesday to Sunday Sri Amma gives Her darshan at this Oneness centre. These Dharshans are occasions where Sri Amma showers Her blessings on the gathering of devotees, answering their prayers and fulfilling their desires. These Dharshans have led to a profound transformation in the lives of the participants - years long addiction falling apart, blind getting sight, lame starting to walk, families coming together, the pain of years of loneliness getting cleansed from their souls as they shed silent tears at the sight if the divine Mother.
Enlightenment…what is in for me?
“How does enlightenment help me in my day-to-day living? Why must one be enlightened? People have talked about Enlightenment only for Buddha and other great masters of the world. Why do it for all?”
- John Lodalsky, a new age teacher and a Hollywood actor
From one of the teachers of the Movement:
Well, Enlightenment as Bhagavan gives it to man, is not just for you. It is for you and through you for the rest of the world. And why at all do we need this state itself? Cannot man go on living in the state, which he has been living for hundreds and thousands of years?
The first thing that will happen to you the moment you get enlightened is, you would search in the dictionary for the meaning of the word ‘suffering’. The second things that will happen to you is a tremendous flowering of the heart where you will being to discover love and it is for this love that most of us are aching in life. Today all human beings are basically trying to live for themselves and therefore it has become a world where I live for myself and you live for yourself and finally nobody is there to care for each other. It has become a loveless world, a desert. If this situation has to change, our hearts have to flower. Bhagavan says love cannot be cultivated. It has to happen to you. You can’t pump love into your heart.
So the second most beautiful miracle that will happen to you in your life is this discovery of love and compassion in your own life. For a person who is enlightened he has no suffering in his life, therefore he also does not create suffering for the rest of the world. In his life the psychological and spiritual suffering ceases forever.
And also such of those physical problems that are arising in our day-to-day life, which are basically arising because of our wrong thinking patterns, the way our mind is structured, and the negative merits that we are acquiring through our thought, word and deed, all these would come to an end in the life of a person who is enlightened.
If you look at the world you find that a happy person gives happiness to others and such of those people who are constantly mad at others, hurt others, curse others are the ones who are themselves suffering within.
No happy person can give unhappiness to another and no unhappy person can give happiness to another and Love is not something that can take side in an unhappy person.
By your enlightenment you are saving society from danger. A human being who is suffering is a danger to the world he is living in. So when you are Enlightened not only have you acquired a state of bliss and joy but you are also helping the rest of the mankind live in peace. That is the first thing you will have to do. A person who is enlightened would naturally know how to develop his child, would naturally know how to help his friend in crisis, how to share his life with his spouse etc. These are things that would naturally come to him. An enlightened person’s consciousness would affect his family, office, colleagues, work place, town, city, and it is the greatest blessing that can happen to anybody - to have an enlightened being in one’s place. And that, the Oneness Movement is giving it to mankind today. I think anybody should run for it now.
The Oneness University
Rolling hills, rocky in summer, green in the rains, over hanging clouds, chirping birds, giggling streams, many coloured stones and clear waters, occasional herd of wild boards that ran down the hill during the groundnut season, a tremendous silence that descends from the hills makes the Oneness University.
It is a global university existing to bestow the state of oneness to all seekers.
Courses offered in the Oneness University
Oh…? Aha…!!! Is the one joyful exclamation echoed by the seekers who come to the university in search of freedom.
Sri Bhagavan’s sutras come as a delightful surprise to a mankind that defines the path to freedom as one of struggle, tapas, a strict code of conduct, suppression of ego and renunciation of all worldly desires.
These sutras which add a new dimension to Modern man’s existence are so powerful that the listener doesn’t need years of contemplation to access the mysteries of his mind, the self and this vast universe. For freedom is now and here… transformation does not involve time.
This awakening to a Blissful existence made possible through the teachings, meditations and the divine grace of Sri Amma and Bhagavan is available to any seeker who is passionate to taste liberation.
Mukthi Deeksha
Mukthi Deeksha, a three-day retreat, is an inward journey in to one’s own self. Here the participants are taken through their lives and liberated from negative life patterns and traumas through the grace of Sri Bhagavan and Amma. One undergoes a drastic change in perception and begins to view life from a different light. The Deeksha, an initiation process, transports the participants into various enlightened states of consciousness, whereby one starts seeing reality as it is and not through veil of the mind.
One participant Mr. David, an American psychotherapist working with groups in Germany, heaved a sigh of relief as he realised the futility of his struggle against himself for the past five decades. He said, “Oh! I feel like a small boy with a glass in hand trying to measure the ocean.” An Indian software engineer working in USA, Mr. Ravi Krishnamurthy remarked, “I worked more hard to get my masters degree than getting into the state of enlightenment.”
This is an extraordinary retreat at the end of which all extras fall off and everyone feels their natural state of existence. There is a story of a Zen monk who was walking to the market place with a basket in hand. On the way the monk got enlightened. One would obviously expect an enlightened person to dive into some extraordinary feat, but the story says the monk picked up his basket again and resumed his walk to the market. As the divine Avatar Sri Bhagavan reveals, ‘Enlightened state is the natural state of man’. Every participant at the end of the retreat learns what it is to live. We find people jumping in joy, ‘I feel great to be alive!’ they exclaim. Noel Sajinis, Grammy Award winner from South America, exclaimed, “I am awake and I am the same.”
The most cherished moment of the retreat is ‘An evening with Sri Bhagavan’, where the participants have an interactive session with the divine Avatar and seek His blessings. It is a breath taking experience to see Sri Bhagavan pouring His infinite wisdom through every gesture; smile and word. As the seekers meditate in His divine presence they enter into very deep states of silence and union with the cosmic consciousness.
Youth Deeksha
Today, making a living has become the motive behind one’s career than passion. Often youth is either confused or debating whether the object or profession they are after, is going to be lucrative, challenging or is it the right stream? The society also has a major influence on their decisions. The decisions are based on comparison with friends and relatives, pressure from parents or wanting to prove themselves to the society, thus leading to mediocre professionals.
Innate qualities of youth like creativity, happiness, helping tendency, hard work and healthy body and mind are on the decline. Instead frustration, fear and insecurity are on the rise. Most youth are not able to achieve their fullest potentials and fulfil their destinies on this planet.
The vision of the Oneness Movement is to create and nurture happy youth – with healthy body, mind, success in career and personal life.
The Youth Deeksha, a six-day retreat, being exclusively conducted for the youth at the Oneness University is focused on removing recurring negative life patterns and awakening one’s latent talent and potential. The Youth Deeksha has the unique power of increasing the brain capacity by synchronising the left and the right hemispheres of the brain. Students have reported tremendous increase in memory power and concentration after the Deeksha.
The ‘Phala Deeksha’ (Boon Deeksha) is significant part of the Youth retreat, where Sri Bhagavan and Amma manifest to them and grant their boons. It is comparable to the ancient practice of a ten or twenty year tapas, followed by the manifestation of the deity who then grants them the desires!
Maha Deeksha
This is an advanced seven-day retreat offered to the participants of the Mukthi Deeksha, who share the vision of Sri Bhagavan and Amma in creating an enlightened world. At the end of the process the participants are empowered with the power to give enlightenment to others.
During the retreat, an enormous cleansing process is done, not through any teaching, but by the divine grace and power of Sri Bhagavan and Amma. The participants are prepared to receive a series of Deekshas, which would henceforth make them channels of Sri Bhagavan’s divine grace to flow through. Then through a series of Deekshas, the participants enter into heightened levels of consciousness, where they experience high states of Oneness.
The power to give Deeksha or to transfer the state of enlightenment is a benediction bestowed by Sri Bhagavan to the participants of the Maha Deeksha. It brings about a profound transformation in an individual, both in internal and external spheres of one’s life. Thereafter the individual can transfer his/her state in turn to anyone through the Deeksha process.
Let us march towards the Oneness Age – the Age of love and freedom!
